This provides a lot of fun stuff but how much of it attempts to improve the Thinking side of riding? If riders "THOUGHT" about what they were doing many if not most crashes could be avoided. Fun go-faster stuff only encourages them to crash faster.

I think this great news for all motorcyclist in the US.
Growing up in London and riding since 1986 gave
me the skills to ride a motorcycle after moving to Seattle.

However after riding for only one day in Seattle I started looking for more training, for other road user here really don't look and the road surface is poor on so many roads.

What harm can come from feedback from the riders of the US and the world.

I was at the original committee meeting regarding HB2511. My husband Neil testified to the committee's paranoia about "bikers carrying guns." He reminded the committee that permitted guns and their owners are scrutinized by the state patrol.
The committee voted to pass the bill 7-1. Later we learned that it flew through the House 96-2.
It was not on the dockette for the Senate and was dropped by Chairman Adam Kline (D). Is he up for re-election this November??? He is from the 37th district. How about working on voting him out - might that send a message???
Just a thought.

Larry,

I am a member of WRRA and the Bicycle Alliance of Washington. The cell phone bill below is one of joint interest for both groups that you may want to pass along to other WRRA members.

Best,

Ralph

The Bicycle Alliance is a member of the Driven to Distraction Task Force. We are thrilled that Senate Bill 6345 is close to becoming law! Below is a message from the task force:
The Washington state legislative session ends in 8 days, and we need your help in our final push for Senate Bill 6345. With your help, handheld cell phone use and texting while driving will become primary offenses in 2010!

PEMCO just released a poll revealing the number of WA drivers using handheld devices illegally has more than doubled over the past 20 months, and texting while driving has skyrocketed even higher.

What we urgently need from you over the next few days to help curb this alarming trend:

1. Take a few minutes to e-mail your representative using the online link below, even if you've done it before. To find out who your representative is and how to contact them, click here:
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/

2. Forward the e-mail/action link below to as MANY people as you can that live in Washington and ask them to contact their representative in support.

                 http://www.votervoice.net/groups/driven

SSB 6345 soon will go to the full House floor for a vote, and every e-mail and phone call to legislators in support of this bill will help. If you or your colleagues hear back from a House representative, please forward any responses to info@nodistractions.org.
Thanks for making our roads safer for everyone!

HB 1964 has a good point in that if a motorcyclist or any other driver for that matter, get injured in a vehicular accident and they do not have medical insurance, who will pay? The tax payers will be covering the costs and/or the health insurance rates will increase and the health care industry will use this as a great excuse for the increase. I had a motorcycle accident almost 1.5 years ago and it cost over $18,000. Luckily I had medical insurance, plus the man who hit me had auto insurance of $25,000 but I had to pay back my insurance company after I received my accident settlement.
